Dear Friends,

Namaskaram!

Thomas Alva Edison (February 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) was an American inventor and businessman. He developed many devices in fields such as electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures. These inventions, which include the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and early versions of the electric light bulb, have had a widespread impact on the modern industrialized world. He was one of the first inventors to apply the principles of organized science and teamwork to the process of invention, working with many researchers and employees. He established in the first industrial research laboratory. In this issue, we have given some of his quotable quotes.

This month, our front page covers the inspiring poem – Don’t Quit written by John Greenleaf Whittier.

In happenings section, we have covered (i) Workshop on Traditional bone setting practices (ii) Training and Commissioning of Bio-methanation plants (iii) Training on Composting technologies and Terrace garden (iv) study tours and Exposure visits (v) Vivekananda Jayanti and (vi) SHG Annual day celebrations etc.

In the wisdom section, Winin Pereira and Jeremy Seabrook sarcastically write that Avidya has now become the cornerstone of the global “knowledge” system. Dr.S.V.Prabhath, Former Chairman, NCRI nicely explains the concept of thinking inside and outside the box by giving an example of “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” and finally Smt.Rajni Bakshi wants us to redefine the progress and the concept of GDP by putting culture into our balance sheet.
