Dear Friends,

Gunter Pauli is a Belgian, an entrepreneur and author of The Blue Economy. The book was originally a report to the Club of Rome. He wrote it with the twin aims of stimulating entrepreneurship while establishing higher standards for sustainability. The book includes principles that support the blue economy concept and also one hundred business cases that follow the principles. The goals set for the blue economy as a business model is high: to create 100 million jobs and substantial capital value through 100 innovations in the 2010-2020 decade.

He has been called "The Steve Jobs of sustainability". Pauli has lived on four continents, is fluent in seven languages. He has been a resident of Japan since 1994 and spends most of his time in South Africa. In this issue we have given a few of his quotable quotes.

In 1854 the Govt. of United States made an offer for a large area of Indian land and promised a “Reservation” for the Indian people. In this issue, we have given Chief Settle’s reply to this offer which is most beautiful and profound statement on the environment.

In happenings section, we have covered training programmes on Organic farming, Azolla cattle feed, Cost effective construction technologies, Bio-gas technology and mainly the visit of a DST team to evaluate our work under DST Core Support.

In the wisdom section, E.F.Schumacher, German statistician and famous economist, informs us the relation between Religion and Nature while Shri.M.P.Pandit, of Sri Aurobindo Ashram gives us the key for the ‘Personnel Development’ and finally Dr.M.M.Bhamgara, Renowned Naturopath through ‘Ecology Yoga’ emphasizes the unity of ‘All Beings’.
